Kuwaiti Embassy in Malaysia is to draw up a comprehensive map to drastically improve economic and political bilateral ties in the foreseeable future, Kuwaiti envoy to Malaysia Saad Abdullah Al-Assoussi told KUNA Monday. The newly appointed ambassador said that bilateral ties will see a notable progress especially after establishing a joint committee dedicated for that purpose. He said Kuwaiti embassy will focus on enhancing economic ties through increasing trade and commercial volume of the two countries. He added that regulations will be facilitated to encourage Kuwaiti and Malaysian businessmen to invest in both countries. Trade volume in Kuwait and Malaysia has seen drastic improvement from 1996-2012 when it jumped from USD 79 million to nearly USD one billion, respectively. He added that Kuwait imports liquefied gas, woods, natural oils, electronic appliances from Malaysia, while the latter imports oil, petroleum products and petrochemicals products from Kuwait. The Kuwaiti envoy expressed aspiration that a pact will be signed between the two countries in the field of higher education where it will enable Kuwaitis and Malaysians to pursue their education. A Kuwaiti delegation will soon visit Malaysia to discuss the promotion of educational and cultural ties, he concluded.
