
National Assembly has approved and referred to the government, during its regular session held Tuesday, 15 draft laws concerning agreements between the State of Kuwait and various countries and international organizations. Some of the agreements approved were regarding encouraging and protecting investments between Kuwait and the following countries: Canada, Lithuania, Jamaica, and Mauritius. Agreements on avoiding dual taxation between Kuwait-Slovakia and Kuwait-China were also approved in today's parliament regular session. After the approval, the parliament referred to the government a pact on Kuwait joining the Metre Convention; an international treaty, signed in Paris that consists of representatives of 17 nations which set up an institute for the purpose of coordinating international metrology and for coordinating the development of the metric system. Kuwait also would like to join Beijing Convention; a 2010 treaty by which state parties agree to criminalize certain terrorist actions against civil aviation. Kuwait also wants to join Istanbul convention on allowing the free movement of goods across frontiers and their temporary admission into a Customs territory. The parliament approved and referred the following agreements: amending the International Monetary Fund, Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. A Memorandum of Understanding between Kuwait and the United Kingdom regarding immigration was also approved by the parliament. Another Memorandum of Understanding on monitoring vessels and ships at the GCC countries' ports was also passed to the government after approval. A security treating and fighting crime between Kuwait and Azerbaijan was approved today at the parliament. On Tuesday's session, the parliament also discussed a letter from the protection of public funds committee that requested the aid of the state Audit Bureau. Furthermore, the parliament set a four-month timeframe to investigate the mega million deposit cast. However the parliament postponed discussions on the increase of the housing loan to the next session. In addition, it rejected the resignation of MP Abdullah Al-Teraiji from the mega million deposit case investigation committee
