Kuwait\'s PACI wins 2 international GIS awards

The Director General of the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) Musaed Al-Esousi announced that PACI has won two GIS awards at the Esri International User Conference, which was recently held in the city of San Diego, California, USA, and attended by more than 14,000 participants from all over the world. In a press statement, Al-Esousi said PACI\'s \"Kuwait Finder\" application came first at the category of GIS smart phone applications. He noted that the software allows easy finding of locations anywhere inside Kuwait. It allows users to search locations by the PACI No. (code placed in every location, home and etc.) or by nearby current location. It also allows search by area, block, street and more as well as search by location such as hospital, hotel, mall, shopping and more. Users can search for certain route and share the search/location to social media, email and etc. Al-Esousi pointed out that the PACI\'s GIS Maps website also came first at the category of GIS web applications. On this occasion, he underlined the importance of keeping abreast with the latest GIS technology to better serve users in Kuwait. He thanked all PACI employees for their efforts which contributed to raise the name of Kuwait in international events. The Esri International User Conference is the world\'s largest event dedicated to geographic information system (GIS) technology. It is held annually in the United States, usually for one week in July at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. It dates back to 1981. The conference offers more than 600 GIS user presentation sessions, 300 exhibitors, 275 technical workshops, 100 special interest, regional, and user group meetings, and 600 map posters and special displays from more than 100 countries. Thousands of professionals from different industries attend it. There are more than 40 conference tracks divided into the categories of technology, science and modeling, and industry. The tracks include the topics of business, defense, education, environment, government, health and human services, natural resources, public safety, transportation, and utilities.
