Kuwait affirmed Wednesday evening the importance of respecting international laws and norms, saying that such respect was integral on a global scale.Member of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the 66th UN General Assembly\'s legal committee\'s meeting, Ahmad Al-Shraim called for protecting basic human rights in accordance with agreed upon international conventions.Al-Shraim cited the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as an issue that required an immediate solution, adding that the six-decade struggle has threatened the Mideast region\'s peace a security.The Israel injustice towards the Palestinians and its continuous siege of the Gaza Strip since 2007 are perfect examples of an international conflict that needs to be addressed, said the Kuwaiti delegate who expressed Kuwait\'s full support of the Palestinian bid for a state at the UN.On the local and international level, Kuwait has held the law in high regards, said Al-Shraim revealing that Kuwait would be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its constitution next November which in turn reflects Kuwait long strides within the democratic domain.The Kuwaiti official also touched on the issue of the stateless individuals in Kuwait (the bedoun), affirming that the state was working on effective measures to solve this issue and such measures led to the formation of a central apparatus in 2010 that would address the problem.
