Kuwait to continue support for Arab countries in transition

Kuwait Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in London Khaled Al-Dowaisan said Monday his country would continue economic support for the other Arab countries which undergo challenges of the transitional stage. \"The state of Kuwait is one of the main donors for the Arab countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen,\" he told KUNA. Al-Dowaisan made the remarks on the sidelines of the second Deauville Partnership Investment Conference. On the conference he said it provides an opportunity for the major British corporations to hear from representatives of the governments of Arab countries particularly those in transition, and explore ways for addressing their economic pressures. \"The conference gathered representatives of some Arab private sector corporations including the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB),\" Ambassador Al-Dowaisan pointed out. He noted that British Foreign Secretary William Hague will be meeting Arab foreign ministers on the fringe of the UN General Assembly session in New York on September 25 to coordinate international support for the Arab Spring countries. British Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt opened the two-day event at the Park Plaza Hotel, Victoria, earlier today. The gathering is organized by the UK Presidency of the G8 in association with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the IDB.
