Intelligence officials in Kyrgyzstan announced the arrest of a citizen accused of declaring Islamic war against the country\'s president. The country\'s committee for national security announced a Kyrgyz citizen, identified only as 22-year old D.B., was \"found and arrested in the course of complex investigative work,\" reports the country\'s 24.krg news agency. Authorities said the suspect circulated a video beginning in June titled \"Declaration of Jihad Against President (Almazbek) Atambayev.\" Atambayev, a former prime minister, secured the presidency by winning 63 percent of the vote in an election that followed a coup in 2010. The video states that Atambayev violated Islamic law for his views on national folk hero Manas. Kyrgyzstan is the site of a transit center for the U.S. military at the Manas Air Base that serves as a major stopping point for military supplies en route to Afghanistan. U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, during a visit to Kyrgyzstan, said in March the Manas base was critical to the U.S. mission in Afghanistan. Atambayev last week signed a decree dismantling the government. The decision followed the breakup the ruling majority in the 120-member Parliament.
