Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed here on Friday with United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi developments of the Syrian crisis. The two sides discussed prospects of attaining a political settlement for the Syrian crisis in light of Russian-US initiative to holding an international conference on Syria, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Also, the two sides stressed the importance of urging all opposition powers in Syria to conduct a dialogue in order to support the proposed international conference on the crisis in their country. In addition, they affirmed importance of holding that conference on the basis of the Geneva Communique agreement, signed on June 30, 2012.
