
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in New Delhi to meet with his Indian and Chinese counterparts, Salman Khurshid and Wang Yi, for a discussion on coordinating action on international organizations including the UN and on bringing forward a new international security architecture in Asia, the Voice of Russia reported on Sunday. On Monday, Lavrov is to attend the biennial ministerial session of the Asia-Europe Meeting in the Indian capital. The agenda will also include all-round economic cooperation and coordination with regard to regional and global problems. The Asia-Europe Meeting has been around since 1996. It brings the EU countries, the Euro-Commission, Norway, Switzerland and Australia together with the members of the Southeast Asian group ASEAN, the ASEAN executive and many non-ASEAN Asian nations including India, China, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea and Russia. This country joined the ASEM in October 2010. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov has floated an initiative to convene a special ASEM conference on intercultural and interfaith cooperation in St Petersburg next July.
