
The Head of the Parliament's Defense and National Security Committee Mohamed Kamal Amer met Monday with political adviser at the US Embassy here to discuss means of promoting joint cooperation.
In statements to the parliamentary reporters following the meeting, Amer said that the get-together comes in the framework of the meetings held by the committee with number of political advisers at the foreign embassies upon their demand, adding that the committee had previously met with the political adviser of the Japanese Embassy in Cairo.
The meeting reflected the depth of bilateral relations, Amer underlined, saying that it took up boosting joint strategic cooperation in all fields especially the military one.
He further said that he told the US official that Egypt faces many challenges in the security field topped by fighting terrorism as well as in the economic and social domains such as unemployment, shanty areas and poverty.
Amer further said that the country is one of the pioneering countries to have a parliament, adding that the cooperation between the two countries can be bolstered in legislative expertise and combating terrorism via exchanging documents, points of view and delegations.
