Lead defence attorney denies Mubarak will be retried

Mubarak\'s lawyer, Farid El-Deeb refutes news that ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his interior minister will be retried. \"The court session was not held on Saturday, as reported. It will actually be held Sunday,\" Al-Ahram Arabic-language news website quoted El-Deeb. The reports circulated, El-Deeb claims, were Cassation Prosecution Office\'s say on the case - which is merely deemed \'advisory.\' Aside from echoing El-Deeb\'s clarification that the court session will review Mubarak and his interior minister\'s appeal on Sunday, the first under-secretary of the Egyptian Court of Cassation, Ahmed Ali Abdel Rahman, denied reported news about overruling last June\'s life sentence handed down to Mubarak and his interior minister. Early on Saturday reports spread through the media that ousted president Mubarak, along with former minister of interior Habib Al-Adly, would be retried by Egypt\'s Court of Cassation for complicity in the killing of protestors during the initial days of the January 25 Revolution that overthrew Mubarak, Egypt\'s longtime strongman following 30 years of autocratic rule.
