The Army has arrested two men for transporting arms in Baalbek and detained three others in Mount Lebanon after a raid of their residence turned up a large stash of weapons. In east Lebanon, the Army detained a Lebanese and a Syrian national trying to transport weapons over the weekend, the National News Agency said. The NNA said the Army’s Military Intelligence arrested a Syrian national from the Kahloun family and a Lebanese man, identified as Ahmad A.D from the border village of Tfeil, while they were transporting weapons, silencers, ammunition and a sniper rifle in Brital, Baalbek. Separatelyin the Chouf, Mount Lebanon, the Army arrested three individuals after a raid of their residence revealed a stash of weapons, it said in a statement Saturday. Over 1,200 fuses were found in the raid, including electric fuses and Israeli-made landmine fuses. Russian and U.S.-made anti-personal mines, Israeli-made mortar bombs and 21 grenades were also discovered in the search. Forty-seven blocks of explosives, some weighing up to 500 grams, and guns were also found. The case of the three individuals has been referred to the relevant authorities. One on those arrested on charges of spying for Israel is a janitor who works at a school in the coastal Chouf town of Rmeileh. A security source in south Lebanon identified the suspect as Hanna B. The source, who spoke to The Daily Star on condition of anonymity, said security forces raided the concierge’s dwelling at 3 a.m. and confiscated several communication devices. From:The daily star
