Lebanese Caretaker Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Adnan Mansour met on Thursday with United Nations Special Coordinator, Derek Plumbly, for talks that touched on the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Lebanon. “We dwelt on the regional situation, especially in Syria. I have relayed the U.N. Secretary General’s keenness on halting violence in Syria,” Lebanon’s news agency NNA quoted Plumbly as saying after the meeting, The U.N. official said discussions addressed the deteriorating situation of the Syrian refugees and the U.N. concerns in this regard. “We are relentlessly evoking this matter at the international level because we are in need of more help and support,” he said. Plumbly also stressed the importance of preserving Lebanon’s self-distancing policy in relation to the Syrian crisis.
