
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman arrived in New York Monday to take part in the regular session of the UN General Assembly. The Lebanese President is accompanied by an official delegation includes caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Samir Mokbel, Minister of Foreign Affairs Adnan Mansour, and Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abu Faour, in addition to a security and administrative delegation. He will also take part in the international support group for Lebanon, to be chaired by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on September 25 in the presence of the five permanent members of the Security Council, the European Union, the Arab League, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Group and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The focus of this meeting is to seek financial support to enable Lebanon to accommodate the nearly two million Syrian refugees, as well as to facilitate their eventual return to Syria It also aims to provide humanitarian aid and development assistance and strengthen Lebanon\'s armed forces.
