Libyan figures urge UN to review amendments of Libya deal within 2 weeks

Libyan figures - who had talks in Cairo on Monday and Tuesday - urged the United Nations to convene within two weeks maximum to review proposed amendments to the United Nations-brokered agreement on the two-year Libyan schism.

In a statement on Tuesday, the conferees agreed that some amendments should be attached to the United Nations-brokered agreement to put an end to the deteriorating political, economic, security and humanitarian conditions in the country.

The conferees hailed the role played by Egypt to maintain Libya's unity and stability.

The conferees stressed main constants, including maintaining Libya's unity of lands, protecting state institutions, maintaining the Libyan army's unity and rejecting foreign interference, the statement.

The Libyan figures condemned the recent terror attack in Egypt.

The two-day talks were sponsored by Egyptian Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
