Libya\'s NTC leaders arrive in Cairo for talks with Egyptian leaders

Prime Minister of Libya''s National Transitional Council (NTC) Mahmoud Jibril and Foreign Minister Abdulrahman Shalgham have arrived here for a two-day visit to Egypt and talks with Chief of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces Field-Marshal Mohammad Hussein Tantawi, Prime Minister Dr.Essam Sharaf and Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr on the conflict in Libya. Speaking to reporters upon arrival at Cairo International Airport last night, Jibril said the talks will cover the efforts to stabilize Libya and rebuild its national army. "The post-war stabilization efforts focus on how to improve the educational and healthcare services and promote economic development after 42 years of underdevelopment," he pointed out. Asked whether the NTC would seek deployment of UN peacekeeping forces, Jibril said the new administration of Libya will ask the UN to do so only if need be, noting that a decision in this regard was not made so far. The talks in Cairo will also deal with Libya''s resumption of its membership in the Arab League. During their stay here, the two Libyan envoys will attend the League''s Ministerial Council extraordinary meeting on Libya and Syria and which is due to open at the Arab League''s general headquarters here later Saturday evening.
