Maaytah: Obama’s visit reflects strong ties between Jordan and US

State Minister for Media Affairs and the Government Spokesperson Samih Maaytah said the visit of U.S President Barack Obama to Jordan on March 22, reflects the strong ties and friendship between the two countries.Maaytah welcomed the visit, noting that efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II succeeded in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and bringing views closer on a number of issues, mainly the establishment of peace and stability in the region.He voiced hope that the visit will give a strong momentum to the peace process, adding that just, comprehensive and permanent peace based on international legitimacy resolutions is a strategic interest for the two countries and the region.The minister also expressed hope that the US administration will work towards finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis and increase support to Jordan, which is hosting thousands of Syrian refugees.Maaytah stressed that Jordan, will continue under the leaderships of His Majesty King Abdullah II, its efforts to revive peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve peace based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
