The final Statement of the Islamic solidarity Summit which concluded here last night, praised the announcement of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, during the International Conference for the Defense of Jerusalem, which was held in Doha in February 2012, that the State of Qatar is ready to participate in pipelining the strategic plan for Jerusalem. The Summit stressed in its final statement the importance of considering the call of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani regarding the adoption of a resolution for the formation of an international commission to investigate all actions taken by Israel since the occupation in 1967 in Arab Jerusalem with a view to erasing its Arab and Islamic features. The statement said settling the issue in accordance with the United Nations related resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Road Map plan will contribute to peace and security and will enable Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable rights including the right to self-determination, establishing their independent sovereign state, on the basis of June 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, and finding a just solution that guarantees the return of Palestinian refugees in accordance with UN general Assembly resolution No 194. On Syria, the statement by the 57-nation group said: “The conference decided to suspend the Syrian Arab Republic membership in the OIC and all its subsidiary organs, specialized and affiliated institutions.” OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told a news conference that the decision sent “a strong message from the Muslim world to the Syrian regime.” “This world can no longer accept a regime that massacres its people using planes, tanks and heavy artillery,” he added. Another key decision taken up by the OIC was to condemn “the continued recourse to violence by the Myanmar authorities against the members of this minority and their refusal to recognize their right to citizenship.” “The summit has decided to bring this matter before the General Assembly of the United Nations,” it said in a final statement.
