Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Chief of Staff Gen. Dato' Sri Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin has announced that his country sees no threat in the transfer of most US Navy fleet equipment to the Pacific Ocean by 2020. The US move is not related to the conflict over the sovereignty of the South China sea between a number of regional nations, but rather aims to contribute to peacekeeping efforts, he said. The area is developing economically hence it is natural that the US focuses on security issues, the MAF Chief of Staff has indicated. US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta had recently announced that his country would move 60% if its fleet to the Pacific Ocean under its news military strategy.
