Doha - TAP

Acting president Moncef Marzouki said that « the delicate phase Syria is living through requires that Arab leaders consider sending an Arab peace-keeping force to Syria », affirming « Tunisia\'s readiness to be part of it ».In his address to the 24th Arab summit whose works started on Tuesday, in Doha (Qatar), Marzouki declared that the Syrian « disaster » which caused tens of thousands of deaths should not hide the fact that  « the worst is still to come ».  The war, he said, « won\'t stop with the fall of the regime. Its repercussions on immediate and remote vicinity start to appear».The president went on saying that Tunisia is « filled with dismay » in view of the inflow of fighters to Syria, whether they are fighting to support the regime or against it. « Experience has shown that those veterans return to their countries representing a human reserve to acts of destabilization», he warned.  Marzouki also warned against the « serious outflow » of Arab youths dispatched to Syria to fight and die for causes they ignore. He hailed the fact that the Syrian opposition coalition had taken a seat in the Doha Arab Summit, considering it is no more acceptable morally and politically to have delegates of the present regime representing a great people like the Syrian people.Marzouki called for increasing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and urged the international community to consider rebuilding Syria under the aegis of the United Nations. As to the Palestinian cause, Marzouki reaffirmed Tunisia\'s commitment to the Arab causes, including in the first place the Palestinian one, reckoning that Palestinian splits are the greatest danger.«Tunisia has always hosted their Palestinian brothers and will keep on playing a role in the palestinian reconciliation », he said, hailing the proposal of Qatar to set up a fund of support for El Qods.
