A mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are still planning the meetings between their chiefs of cross-Strait affairs. During a meeting last October, Zhang Zhijun, head of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, and Wang Yu-chi, Taiwan's mainland affairs chief, had agreed to hold mutual visits, said the office's spokeswoman, Fan Liqing, at a press conference. Zhang met Wang ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting on the Indonesian resort island of Bali on Oct. 6. Fan made the remarks when she was asked to confirm media reports of a possible mainland visit by Wang and his possible meeting with Zhang after the Chinese lunar New Year, which falls on Jan. 31 next year.
