Twelve Mexican federal police officers were ordered detained after they were accused of firing on a U.S. diplomatic vehicle south of Mexico City last week. The federal Attorney-General\'s Office spokesman Jose Luis Manjarrez said Monday the judge\'s order requires the officers to be held for 30 days, CNN reported Tuesday. The officers will be transferred to Mexico City from Morelos state, where they were being held. One of the defendants\' attorneys said the 12 officers were being investigated on five charges, including attempted murder, CNN said. Two U.S. Embassy employees were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening wounds following the shooting Friday. A member of the Mexican Navy with them in the vehicle sustained some bruising. The three were traveling to a training facility in Mexico when they were ambushed by a group, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said in a statement. Mexican government officials said members of the federal police were involved and fired on the vehicle carrying the embassy employees and Mexican sailor.
