Mexico supports Japan over joining in TPP negotiation

Visiting Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said here Monday that his country supports Japan\'s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade talks. Pena Nieto made the remark after his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and said Mexico agreed to improve bilateral cooperation in areas like economy and trade, technology and culture. For his part, Abe said that Japan and Mexico are strategic partners that share common values and Mexico is Japan\'s stronghold to enhance its diplomatic ties with Central and South American countries. Abe announced last month that Japan\'s intention to join in the TPP talks, which needs to be agreed by all 11 countries that have involved in the talks. A total of seven countries, including Mexico, supported Japan\' s participation, while the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada have not given their stances yet.
