
Miao Ruilin was elected mayor of Nanjing, capital of the eastern coastal province of Jiangsu, at the second session of the 15th Nanjing Municipal People's Congress on Thursday. Miao, 49, a native of Rudong, Jiangsu, is deputy secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. He was appointed Nanjing's acting mayor on Dec. 26 of 2013. Ji Jianye, former mayor of Nanjing, was removed from his post when he came under investigation for serious disciplinary violations in October last year.
