Rabat - Map

Morocco sent two planes to Libya in order to evacuate the Libyans wounded during the battles between the pro-Qadhafi forces and the rebels, to receive medical care in the Kingdom. The Moroccan TV channel Al Oula said that the two planes, sent upon instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, landed on Tuesday evening in Libya carrying a medical staff that will supervise the evacuation of the wounded admitted to the hospitals of Benghazi, Misrata and Tripoli. Through this initiative, Morocco shows effective solidarity and commitment in its cooperation ties with the Libyan people. Out of desire for unity and peaceful relations based on belonging to the Maghreb and Mediterranean spaces, the Kingdom was among the first countries to react quickly and positively to the popular uprising which put an end to four decades of tyranny, anarchy and excessive foreign policy. Rabat, which recognized the National Transitional Council as the legitimate representative of the Libyan people since the beginning of the uprising, confirmed this recognition through a visit of foreign minister Taib Fassi Fihri to Benghazi on August 23, carrying a message from HM the King to Mustafa Abdul Jalil, chairman of the Council. It also set up a makeshift hospital and sent important humanitarian aid and medical equipment to the camps pitched near the Tunisian border for refugees.
