A majority of Croatians on Sunday said "yes" in a referendum on a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a "union between a woman and a man." According to preliminary results released by National Election Commission, with 86.69 of the ballots counted, a total of 64.82 percent of voters who cast their ballots were in favor of the amendment. A total of 64.82 percent of voters were against. Some 37.62 percent of the total 3.80 million voters cast their ballots, less than the turnout in the referendum on Croatian accession to the EU last year, National Election Commission said. Croatian parliament adopted a referendum after a civil group "In the Name of the Family"gathered more than 740,000 signatures which were above the 10-percent requirement of all eligible voters for a referendum.
