Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, citing illness, has announced she has suspended her campaign a week before parliamentary elections. San Suu Kyi, who is contesting one of the 45 Parliament seats in contention in by-elections next week, has suffered from low blood pressure and vomiting due to exhaustion, a spokesman told the BBC. The candidate\'s demanding schedule, which caused illness in an earlier stage of her campaign, pushed doctors to call for her rest. San Suu Kyi is running for office for the first time since 1990, when the military leaders of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, refused to recognize her party, the National League for Democracy, as the victor in that year\'s elections.
