Nepal\'s opposition CPN-Maoist urged again for talks

The High Level Political Committee (HLPC), a mechanism of major four parties that back the Interim Election Government, has sent a letter to opposition party CPN-Maoist asking it to come to the negotiation table, party leaders said on Sunday. The HLPC meeting on Saturday had decided to send a letter for talks. HLPC Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also UCPN ( Maoist) chairman, dispatched the letter to CPN-Maoist, Dahal\'s secretariat told Xinhua. The CPN-Maoist, a breakaway faction of UCPN (Maoist), is launching a nation-wide campaign to disrupt the November 19 Constituent Assembly poll. It is insisting that there should not be any conditions during the negotiation. Earlier, HLPC has already sent two letters to CPN-Maoist urging it to come for talks. Meanwhile, the government has also sent a separate letter to CPN-Maoist. But there has not been any negotiation between the ruling and opposition party. A meeting of CPN-Maoist-led alliance on Thursday had decided to sit for talks if the HLPC sent an unconditional invitation that mentions the names of all constituent parties of the alliance. The CPN-Maoist is also arguing that the November 19 poll should be deferred and the current government should be dissolved.
