Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied claims about discussions to establish an independent Palestinian state in Gaza extending into the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, according to a report published in the Middle East Monitor.
Israeli media reported that Israeli Minister Ayoub Kara said Netanyahu had discuss such a plan with US President Donald Trump during his recent visit to the US.
Netanyahu said that the idea had not been discussed by the Israeli and US leaders and had “no basis of truth”, adding that the Israeli government considered Egypt an important party contributing to strength and stability of the region.
