The Dutch Foreign Ministry Wednesday said that it will take Turkey\'s request for deployment of Patriot missile systems into consideration and examine the desirability and possibility of a contribution. \"Allied solidarity will be an important consideration,\" noted a statement by the ministry at the Hague. Earlier today in Brussels, NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen announced that Turkey has officially requested for a deployment of surface-to-air Patriot missiles to protect its border with Syria. Germany and The Netherlands are the two main European countries that possess Patriots which are made in the US. Rasmussen said it was up to \"individual NATO countries that have available Patriots. to decide if they can provide them for deployment in Turkey and for how long.\"
