New Greenlandic government coalition in place

The new Greenlandic government coalition consisting of the socially-democratic oriented Siumut, the pro-Greenlandic Partii Inuit and the center-right liberal Atassut has been presented in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.The new ruling coalition suggested that the leader of Siumut party Aleqa Hammond to replace Jakob Kuupik Kleist as the new Prime minister of Greenland, a Danish territory with partial autonomy.Siumut, Partii Inuit and Atassut together gained 57.3 percent of the total votes, wining 18 seats in the 31-seat parliament. The three parties are still negotiating a coalition agreement, which is expected to be signed on Friday.\"We will continue negotiations because we need to agree on some key issues. For example, royalties on raw materials, fishing, lifting of zero tolerance for uranium and implementation of the Greenlandic language as the main language in Greenland,\" said Hammond at a press conference on Tuesday.A general election was held in Greenland on March 12. The biggest winner of the election is Siumut party headed by Hammond with 42.8 percent of the total votes and 14 seats in the parliament.Kleist and his Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) party captured 34.4 percent of the total votes and won 11 seats in the parliament.Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) party believes that the new coalition will harm the business growth plan for Greenland, which Kleist stood for.Kleist pushed the legislation, known as the \"Large-Scale\" law, which gives special rights to foreign companies investing more than five billion Danish kroner (around 872 million U.S. dollars) in big mining projects, to recruit cheap foreign work forces.\"Siumut, Atassut and Partii Inuit will extract uranium, impose royalties on mining and roll back the reforms,\" said Juliane Henningsen, the member of Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) party on her Twitter profile
