Appearing for the first time before the UN Security Council in New York, Serbia\'s current government on Tuesday pledged to keep Kosovo out of all international organizations. According to dpa, the government of President Tomislav Nikolic, elected in July, told the 15-nation council that under no circumstances will it recognize Kosovo\'s 2008 unilateral declaration of independence. \"It is the position of the Republic of Serbia that Kosovo cannot be allowed to accede to any international organization in which membership is reserved for sovereign states,\" said Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. Dacic said the Nikolic government will implement all agreements reached so far to work out a lasting peace between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo. The European Union is leading technical talks to facilitate the implementation of the agreements between Serbs and Albanians.
