
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has announced that it has appointed Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel as its Acting Secretary-General.
Dr. Al-Fadhel will be tasked with developing the work of the NIHR’s Secretariat-General in accordance with the NIHR’s strategy and work plan.
President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Faihani said that Dr. Al-Fadhel will enrich the NIHR’s work, given his distinguished human rights and legal record and experience, wishing him every success.
Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel holds both a PHD and a Master's degree in Public International Law from the University of Leeds, the United Kingdom, and has a law degree from the University of Bahrain.
He is a former student activist and was elected head of Faculty of Law Association and member of the UoB Student Council.
He represented the Bahrain civil society in numerous Human Rights conferences in Geneva.
Dr. Al Fadhel is an active member of the British "Human Rights Lawyers" Society (London), the Royal Society for Asian Affairs (London), the British Society for Eastern Studies and the Arbitration Bodies Association (Vienna).
