No casualties have been reported from gas explosions at a U.S. army base in southeastern South Korea, Yonhap news agency and local broadcaster YTN reported on Thursday citing firefighting authorities.
Gas explosions occurred about 10 times at 2:28 p.m. local time (0528 GMT) at the Camp Carroll U.S. army base in Chilgok county in South Korea's North Gyeonsang province.
Fifteen fire engines were sent to the scene to put out fires in about 30 minutes after the fire broke out. No casualties have been reported until now.
Nitrogen and oxygen explosions are estimated to have caused the fire, but the exact cause was still unknown.
Two farm houses close to the base also caught fire, but the blaze has been extinguished.
