There are no Russian citizens, who could be hit by the earthquake in Iran, the Russian Embassy in Iran told Itar-Tass on Wednesday. A magnitude 6.1 earthquake killed at least 37 and injured hundreds more in a sparsely populated area in southern Iran on Tuesday, April 9, Iranian officials said, adding that it did not damage a nuclear plant in the region. About 90 percent of Iran’s territory is located in the high level of seismic activity. Practically every 10 years Iran was hit by powerful earthquakes. In the 20th century over 170,000 Iranians were affected by deadly earthquakes.
