North Korea sentenced a naturalized US citizen to 10 years in prison, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.
Kim Dong Chul, 62, was sentenced Friday after a brief trial in Pyongyang, the news agency reported.
Kim, who was born in South Korea and later became a US citizen, apparently confessed during the trial to stealing military secrets to help his native country, BBC News reported, citing a news conference organized by Pyongyang.
Kim said he was first approached by South Korean intelligence officers in 2011 to engage in paid espionage, North Korean news agency KCNA reported.
