
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu , the Secretary General of the Jeddah-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Saturday the assassination of prominent Tunisian oppositionist Mohammad Brahimi who was shot dead at his house earlier Thursday,expressing his heartfelt condolences to the deceased\'s family. Ihsanoglu also called upon the Tunisian government to arrest the perpetrators of such a terrorist and heinous crime. He also called upon all Tunisian people to shoulder the responsibility and stand against violence and physical liquidation and place the supreme interest of the homeland above any other considerations , urging them meantime to continue supporting the democratic process in the country. Earlier today, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also condemned the assassination of Mohammad Brahimi and called on Tunisian officials to run a thorough investigation into this criminal act, and to take serious measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future. The ministry also called on all parties in Tunisia to hold a dialogue in order to bring democracy to their country.
