The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has called on all parties in Libya to exercise maximum self-restraint and avoid any armed escalation that could lead to serious chaos thus threatening world peace and security and truncating the ongoing democratic transformation process in the country. Ihsanoglu emphasized that the OIC, while condemning the violence in the capital, Tripoli, which led to the killing of scores of Libyans and the injuring of hundreds, calls for an immediate end to these acts. He also appealed for support for the efforts being made by the Libyan authorities to bring about security, stability and the building of state institutions. On another hand, the Secretary General expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished them quick recovery.
