
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has strongly condemned the suicides terrorist attack at a restaurant in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, on Saturday, 7th September 2013, resulting in the death of scores of innocent people and the wounding many others. In a press statement, Prof Ihsanoglu in deploring the incident, expressed his profound sadness over the human loss in the deadly attack which comes at a time when the country is grappling to consolidate its hard earned peace and facing the challenges of reconstruction. He commiserated with families of the victims, the people and the government of Somalia over tragedy. The OIC Secretary General, while conveying the solidarity of the OIC with the government of Somalia, urged the authorities not to relent in the fight against terrorism. He then reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations.
