Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Jerusalem /Al/Quds/ by extremist jewish settlers, considering this criminal attack a flagrant violation of the sanctity of holy sites and places of worship and an act of provocation to the feelings of all Muslims. The Secretary General held the Israeli government fully responsible of the flagrant violations of rules of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, and called upon the Security Council and the Quartet Committee to work to stop these dangerous Israeli violations, warning that such escalation will lead to further deterioration and instability in the region. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu emphasized the stand of the OIC besides the Palestinian people until they achieve their legitimate rights and their independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
