OIC urges donations for $500m development plan of al-Quds City

The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has urged member countries and international donors to mobilise financial resources for the implementation of the US$499.1 million strategic plan for the development of City of Al-Quds City (Jerusalem). Ihsanoglu was addressing an international donor conference on financing the strategic plan of the sectoral development of the city of Al-Quds. He emphasised that the issue of Al-Quds City was among the reasons behind establishing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation four decades ago. The conference was organised to draw attention to the fact that tens of thousands of Palestinian children have no access to education, the public health sector in the city is in a deplorable state, and the population of the city of Al-Quds have difficulties in having access to medical care. On Tuesday, the Azeri capital hosted the founding conference of the Islamic Financial Security Network for aid to the Palestinian state and a donor conference for supporting the development of the city of Al-Quds. The conference was attended by representatives of several international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), ISESCO, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, and the Islamic Development Bank. Representatives of the OIC member countries: foreign ministers, officials of foreign offices as well as heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited in Baku.
