Oman calls on the international community to stop Israeli violations of Palestine

The Sultanate of Oman last night asked the Human Rights Council in Geneva to demand that the international community works to stop Israeli violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, pointing out that the continued suffering of the Palestinian people comes as a result of the Israeli occupation authorities and their crimes against humanity. Violations which affect the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people. The Oman News Agency (ONA) quoted Ambassador Abdulla Nasser Musallam Al-Rahbi, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), in a speech last night during session 23 of the Human Rights Council on the article \"The human rights situation in Palestine and the occupied Arab territories\". The Sultanate states that the international community must not turn its back on the Palestinian people who have their rights violated on a daily basis, such as the rights of freedom of movement, access to a fair trial and the right to self-determination. Al-Rahbi pointed out the importance of this topic, especially in view of the fact that the Israeli government recently approved the construction of several residential units, which is a violation of international law and undermines the entire peace process. He called on the Israeli government to listen to international demands to stop building settlements and cease the continuous violations of the rights of the Palestinian people. He demanded the release of all Palestinian and Arab prisoners, and approval of the Palestinian people\'s right to self-determination, to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital and an end to the occupation of all Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan. He added that there is no peace in this region and thus no peace in the world unless the international community exerts pressure on Israel to sit down at the negotiating table under the auspices of international peace and statehood for the Palestinians, as internationally recognised.
