
The Unites States Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) President, Elizabeth Little, along with her delegation met Pakistan\'s Federal Finance Minister ,Ishaq Dar, on Tuesday and agreed to begin negotiations on civil nuclear technology. The Minister, in press statement, said that the US delegation expressed willingness to invest in bio-energy sector in Pakistan to overcome the power crisis. Transfer of technology is major impediment in the way of bilateral cooperation between both countries, he further added. The minister said the biggest problems of Pakistan were terrorism and the economy adding that the government was trying to bring all the political parties on the table to resolve the issues. The measures to counter the energy crisis in Pakistan, investments and cooperation with other sectors were also discussed during the meeting. The OPIC president said that the country was facing an energy crisis as well as issues with security and governance and US would help Pakistan to overcome these problems. She informed that US is starting a project of 50MV wind energy in southern Pakistani province Sindh and will also undertake more projects in future.
