Pakistani security forces have launched a new major anti-terrorism operation across the country, the army said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The 'Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad' aims at indiscriminately eliminating residual and latent threat of terrorism, consolidating gains of operations made thus far and further ensuring security of the borders," the statement said.
It said Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Civil Armed Forces and other security law enforcing agencies will continue to actively participate in, intimately support the efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.
The effort entails conduct of Broad Spectrum Security Counter Terrorism operations by the paramilitary rangers in Punjab Province, continuation of ongoing operations across the country and focus on more effective border security management.
The operation will also focus on the country wide deweaponization and explosive control.
The operation has been launched in pursuance of the National Action Plan that started after the Taliban attack on the army-run school in 2014.
