Pakistan made the most sacrifices

Very disappointed," says Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan in response to US President  accusing his country of being duplicitous in its fight against terror.

In an exclusive interview to Khaleej Times, the cricket star-turned-politician, who has always crititicised the South Asian nuclear power siding with the US, pointed out the sacrifices Pakistan had made in the fight."Why is Pakistan being held responsible for America's policy failures in Afghanistan", he questioned.

Announcing his South Asia policy, US President Donald Trump had called for greater troop deployment and Indian involvement in Afghanistan and lambasted Pakistan for offering safe havens to "agents of chaos".

Khan said: "While Pakistan has made sacrifices and fought a war that is not ours, India has been asked to become involved even though it does not share a border with Afghanistan."

"Pakistan got involved in the [war] even though not a single Pakistani was involved in 9/11. Al Qaeda was in Afghanistan. It was not necessary for [Pakistan] to get involved in this war [as it was] not at fault," Khan said.

However, he said he supported peaceful, friendly and trade relations with both Afghanistan and India.
