Islamabad - KUNA

The Interior Minister of Pakistan, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has rejected the allegations leveled by the Indian external affairs minister Salman Khurshid against the Pakistan Army that it was hindering the peace process between the two countries. In a statement issued by the Press Information Department, the Minister termed the Indian remarks against the Pakistan army as \"unnecessary and against diplomatic norms\". The Indian Minister in an interview to Voice of America has said that Pakistan\'s Inter-Services Intelligence and its military were sabotaging the Nawaz Sharif government\'s efforts to make peace with India. These remarks by the Indian Minister came hours after a prime minister-level meeting between the two countries to reducing tensions and resumption of peace process on Sunday night. The Interior Minister of Pakistan commented on the remarks that the statements being issued by the Indian rulers and politicians at a time when Pakistan was sincerely trying to improve the atmosphere and end confrontation showed that New Delhi was not serious in pursuing the peace process with Pakistan. Chaudhry said, \"It is surprising that the Indian government is leveling allegations in response to the Nawaz Sharif government\'s efforts to normalize relations between the two countries.\" He added that there was complete harmony between the army and the government on all international and national security issues. On the other end, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in ground breaking talks between the top political leadership of two countries, aimed at reducing tensions and resumption of peace process in New York on the side lines of UN General Assembly on Sunday. The prime ministers also discussed the recent tensions along the Line of Control in disputed Kashmir region and the two sides agreed to establish a mechanism for not only to investigate such unfortunate incidents but also to ensure that there is no recurrence of such incidents.
