Pakistan wants to bar foreign military bases

A Pakistani parliamentary panel wants to bar foreign security contractors from working in Pakistan and is also against foreign military bases, especially American ones. Members of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security led by Senator Raza Rabbani on Saturday unanimously agreed on the two clauses, the Dawn reported. The draft said any activity of foreign private security contractors should be made \"transparent and subject to Pakistani law\". It includes a clause that speaks of \"parliamentary approval for any use of Pakistani bases by foreign forces\". The draft said new flying rules needed to be drafted by the defence ministry and the Pakistan Air Force with the NATO-led forces \"for areas contiguous to the border\". The Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazul-ur Rehman maintained his earlier stance of not resuming supplies through Pakistani territory to NATO forces in Afghanistan.
