
Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain will pay a three-day visit to China on Tuesday. The following is a profile of the Pakistani leader: Hussain, 74, was born at Agra city in north India. He migrated to Pakistan with his family after partition in 1947 and settled down in Karachi, Sindh province. After graduation in commerce from Karachi University in 1963, he joined the prestigious Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, and gained master degree in 1965. He was a Karachi-based businessman, running a family textile business in Sindh, and was elected to president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1999. Since 1960s, Hussain has joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N)) activities and served successively as joint secretary of the City Organization, general secretary and acting president of the PML-N, Sindh. In 2005, he was appointed Senior Vice President (SVP) of the PML-N. In 1997-1998, he was appointed Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh, and served for a short time as Governor of Sindh province from June to October 1999. Hussain was sworn in as the 12th president of Pakistan in September 2013.
