Palestinian refugees struggle at Jabalia camp

Palestinian refugees continue their life struggles at the Jabalia Refugee Camp, despite 65 years of prolonging since Israeli invasion of Palestinian lands. Anadolu Agency visited the most crowded refuge campJabalia a day before the foundation anniversary of Israel, referred to as \"Nakba\" (disaster) by Palestinians. While the poor living conditions in the narrow streets and one-storey houses draw attention, Palestinians at the camp summarize life at camps by saying, \"living conditions are very difficult here.\" Most of the Jabalians live on the aid distributed by United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Residents complain about the dysfunctional infrastructure facilities such as sewage, clean water and electricity systems following the Israeli attack. Stating that they couldn\'t get hold of construction materials due to the Israeli blockade, Palestinian refugees can\'t do the necessary mending which is also very expensive. 108,000 Palestinian refugees are currently residing in the Jabalia camp which was established for 35,000 refugees migrating from the villages in southern Palestine to Gaza in 1948. Although there are medical centers established under the supervision of UNRWA, officials said that they usually could not find the necessary medical equipment and had to procure them from other hospitals in Gaza. It is also evident in many reports that the blockade has terribly affected the region, and unemployment rate has increased significantly.
