Palestinians file lawsuit against Obama over journalist\'s death

Palestinian lawyers on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against U.S. President Barack Obama upon his arrival to the region Wednesday, accusing the U.S. administration of responsibility for the death of a Palestinian journalist in Iraq in 2003.The lawsuit was filed in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where Obama will visit Thursday. The case is an attempt to compel Obama, in his capacity as the American president, \"to shoulder the responsibility\" for the death of Reuters cameraman Mazen Dana during the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq 10 years ago, said lawyer Muhanad Karaja.The case is symbolic though lawyers said the prosecution in Ramallah accepted the suit.At noon, Obama landed in Israel, starting his three-day visit. On Thursday, he will visit the West Bank and meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.Demonstrations against the visit erupted in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip where protesters burnt posters of Obama and accused him of coming to show support to Israel only.Obama, who arrives here for the first time as a president, has more to talk about with Israel than its conflict with the Palestinians, American media reports said.Unrest in the nearby Syria, Iran\'s nuclear program and the U.S. support to Israel dominate the agenda of the talks between Obama and Israeli leaders.In Ramallah, Obama and Abbas will discuss about the long- stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
