The National Assembly has given the thumbs up to suggestions to revise the law on the privatization of Kuwait's national carrier, Kuwait Airways. The amendments, approved in the first deliberation, were based on suggested bills purposed to address the legal loopholes of the law in question in view of the board makeup and workers' conditions, according to a report by the parliamentary financial and economic committee on the law of the only national airline. As per the law, the board of the Kuwait Airways must be chosen by a minister handpicked by the cabinet and the state must overhaul the carrier's fleet ahead of selling it to a strategic investor. It also states that shareholding companies registered with the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) and foreign companies can offer bids for developing the Kuwait Airways.
